Winter Winds is taken from the now out of print, Nights When I Am Sane album, from Mickey Newbury. Six different songs have been added, and four subtracted with additional instrumentation added in to the mix.

The stark beauty and pain of Nights When I Am Sane may have been too intense for many casual music listeners, but it contained some of Newbury's greatest songs, and Winter Winds showcases the heartfelt singing and songwriting of one of America's greatest musical treasures.
