Whisky Hearts
After winning widespread acclaim for his first two solo albums, Edinburgh singer-songwriter Dean Owens has delivered his finest work to date with his 2007 release Whisky Hearts.
Recorded in Nashville with a stellar cast of Stateside guests, it sees Owens expanding his creative and expressive horizons, drawing on inspirations as diverse as family relationships, growing older, and the wide open spaces of the California desert. The eloquently emotive singing, incisively pared-down lyrics and rootsy Americana stylings that have long been his trademarks feature here alongside a range of influences stretching from classic country-rock to cool contemporary pop, summery 60s vibes to Celtic-tinged folk.
An impressive lineup of musicians including Will Kimbrough, Al Perkins, Thad Cockrell, Paul Deakin and Robert Reynolds have been drafted in for this made-in-Nashville production.
