Whiskeytown
Whiskeytown was formed in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1994, and was fronted by Ryan Adams who eventually disbanded the outfit in 1999 to pursue his solo career.
The rootsy, country sound of Whiskeytown was to become influential in the alt.country movement, although the band did frequently move outside of the confines of this genre of music to produce a series of successful albums.
Caitlin Cary was the only other member of Whiskeytown to be constant throughout the personnel changes during the brief, but important tenure at the vanguard of modern country rock.
