Webb Wilder
The Webb Wilder sound has been described as part Georgia Satellites, part Dave Edmunds, part Elvis Costello. Having been turned on at an early age to the British invasion of the sixties and seventies this Mississippi youth soaked up the punky, pub band sounds before moving to Nashville and putting the Beatnecks together in 1985.
The Beatnecks released six highly-praised albums; It Came From Nashville, Hybrid Vigor, Doo Dad, Town & Country, Acres of Suede, and About Time. In concert, Wilder's rustic wit and character come to the fore between songs.
As if this wasn't enough, Webb Wilder appeared in Peter Bogdonavich's movie The Thing Called Love, and in cult underground classics Horror Hayride and Private Eye.
