Warren Zevon
Warren Zevon released his breakthrough album, Excitable Boy, to critical acclaim and success in 1978, with his offbeat view on life reflected in his dark and humorous songs. Two years later Bad Luck Streak in Dancing School was released, but without the same commerical impact.
Zevon's songs over the years have been a significant influence on other songwriters, and his songs have been covered by icons from Springsteen and Dylan. His output has been patchy with periods of inactivity, and sadly some of his most popular work came posthumously with The Wind, an album recorded with the great and good of the rock and roll world during his last days living with terminal cancer.
He lived to see the album release, but died shortly afterwards in September 2003.
