Warmth & Beauty
Like his Yep Roc stablemate Caitlin Cary, Thad Cockrell represents the lesser-known yet no less talented face of Americana. His release Warmth and Beauty sees Cockrell showcase his outstanding tenor against a backdrop of alt.country and American folk.
Caitlin Cary pops in to adds harmony vocals along with Tift Merritt, and this somehow seems to reinforce the Ryan Adams influence, which is never far from this collection. The Flying Burrito Brothers come to mind, so inevitably there are comparisons to made also with Exile On Main Street-era Stones.
The songs are in the main introspective and haunting, and Thad Cockrell never seems to be rushed with his tunes. His lyrics are a joy, and the overall impact is of a great talent waiting to be heard by the masses.
