Typical American Tragedy
Anthony da Costa has an enviable reputation in the folk world, winning a nube of high profile competitions, and producing six albums of world-weary lyricism ... at the tender age of seventeen.
His 2008 release Typical American Tragedy again offsets his dylanesque tones with the sweet sounds of Abbie Gardner on dobro and lapsteel, Oliver Hill on fiddle, Andy LaDue on drums and Steve Kirkman on electric guitar.
A multi-instrumentalist himself, da Costa is earling high praise in the UK via the esteemed BBC broadcaster Bob Harris.
As Anthiny says himself, 'Typical American Tragedy is a statement of where I was when I wrote and recorded these songs, and I'm proud of it as something people can take home and enjoy. Love, loss, fiddle girls, upstate girls, country music stars, soldiers, dancing, carnivals, mistakes - got 'em all right here.'
