Two Fingers Of Firewater
Two Fingers of Firewater was formed back in 2005 and has developed a reputation for providing masterful alt.country/Americana based around the traditional sound of steel and mandolin.
The winter of 2007 was spent in the appropriately named 'Chiller' unit of a local strawberry farm rehearsing and recording the eleven original numbers which make up the band's debut album, Two Fingers Of Firewater.
The tracks were mastered by Jon Astley, who has worked for Eric Clapton, The Who, Jools Holland and Tori Amos among many others.
Among the standout tracks on the album are Endless Highway, a slice of early 70's country rock so authentic you'd swear you'd heard it performed by the Byrds on Sweetheart Of The Rodeo; The Night Ends, a jangly guitar-driven account of a hazy night in a pool-hall and South Bank Girl, which features duelling Fender Rhodes and distorted steel guitar.
