Truckers, Kickers and Cowboy Angels
The Ugly Guys were born from the ashes of The Kursaal Flyers, who ably filled a gap in the middle seventies bringing Country Rock in the style of Gram Parsons and the Byrds to the British public in those lean musical years before the punk revolution of 1977.
Southend's finest, Paul Shuttleworth and Vic Collins, supported by Steve Oliver, Bob Clouter and Andy Farrell, have got together in 2007 to release Truckers, Kickers and Cowboy Angels. A veritable feast of Cosmic American music put together with a genuine love and feel for the artists and music that made such an impact on both sides of the Atlantic.
The band name comes from a Kursaal Flyers song: The pretty faces came and went ... but the Ugly Guys played on and on and on ...
