Trick Pony - Trick Pony

Good old rock and roll meets contemporary country, is a good way to describe the self-titled 2001 debut from Trick Pony. If your taste in country music is raucous, bar room rock, then look no further. This album is definitely best listened to with a stiff drink in your hand, ideally with some friends. Great to get the party started.

Trick Pony has it nailed right from the first track. Pour Me, is a real bar room rocker, with Heidi Newfield displaying her powerhouse vocal delivery. The track was released as a single and was very close to entering the Country Music Top Ten.

They even have Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings guesting on the band's version of the Cash classic Big River. They do have their quieter moments as shown on Stay In The Moment, Heidi delivering the perfect country love ballad.

Trick Pony, a great band and a great album. Highly recommended good time country. ~ James Soars
