Tootsies Orchid Lounge: Where the Music Began [DVD]
Tootsie's Orchid Lounge on Broadway in Nashville over the years became a favoured watering hole for some of the biggest names in country music, who would stop in to meet their friends, enjoy a drink, and swap a few songs.
Willie Nelson was a regular at Tootsie's during his days in Nashville, and he is the genial host on this DVD which takes a friendly look back at the small club and the big names who made it a second home.
Alongside archive footage of opry stars and newer artists that have frequented Tootsie's, the highlight of the programme is the laid back and good-humoured banter between the likes of Kris Kristofferson, Mel Tillis, Harlan Howard, Bobby Bare, Faron Young and Marty Stuart around informal acoustic performances of some of their best known songs.
