The Nashville Sessions
Leftover Salmon hail from Boulder, Colorado and you would need to go back as far as 1993 to find their first album.
Electrified bluegrass, in a similar way to the Cheese String Incident, their influences are veering into jazz and rock. And like the CSI they tour extensively on the back of a reputation for a great live show. On The Nashville Sessions a bunch of famous names crop up, some that won't surprise you like Del McCoury and Randy Scruggs, but others like Taj Mahal and Lucinda Williams are not they type of acts traditonally associated with Newgrass.
Dobro virtuoso Jerry Douglas, and former Stevie Ray Vaughan keyboard man Reese Wynans help The Nashville Sessions visit bluegrass, Southern-style rock, a bit of blues, some Cajun, and country Bridging the gap between rock and bluegrass, Leftover Salmon can be thought of as a modern day Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
