Following his initial work with the Flatlanders, Joe Ely signed with MCA in the mid 70's and formed his own band that covered all maverick country bases from Western Swing to Honky Tonk via Cajun and Rockabilly.

The Millennium Collection 20th Century Masters have brought together Joe Ely's most notable tracks, including those from his most successful album Honky Tonk Masquerade. Ths was possibly one of Country Music's most eclectic albums, and one that also brought Joe Ely to the attention of rock fans.
