The Earl Brothers are a 4 piece string band from California. They are traditional ... but with an avant-garde edge. Variously described as 'Honky-Tonk Bluegrass' and 'Hillbilly Gothic' the band is built around the unique vocal and songwriting attributes of Bobby Earl Davis (banjo) and John McKelvy (guitar) plus the mandolin work of Larry Hughes and the driving bass of Rob Mellberg.
The subject matter of the Earl Brothers' songs tends to revolve around death, drinking, chasing and subsequently losing women. So they are country after all ...!
