That Old Book Of Mine
Anyone familiar with the history of bluegrass will be well aware of the contribution made by Curly Seckler. A founding uncle of bluegrass music, having played with Charlie Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, Jim & Jesse, and Mac Wiseman, Seckler continued the Nashville Grass after Lester Flatt’s death.
This package collects material from a 1971 recording with the Shenandoah Cut-Ups titled Curly Seckler Sings Again. These eleven tracks are supplemented by five tunes recorded with Willis Spears in 1989, taken from the album Tribute to Lester Flatt.
All instrumentation is well recorded and of the quality most often associated with classic, traditional bluegrass music. Nothing too flashy, That Old Book Of Mine is a fitting testament to Curly's talent and contribution.
