Various Artists - Texas Fed, Texas Bred: Redefining Country Music Vol.1

In the last few years the country music scene in Texas has become more and more popular with fans of no nonsense, good old honky tonk as well as fans of the more contemporary side of country music, seeing a slight move away from the established centre of country music, Nashville.

On Texas Fed, Texas Bred: Redefining Country Music Volume 1, we get a superb mix of older more established artists such as the wonderful Guy Clark and Jim Lauderdale happily rubbing shoulders with newer artists such as Chris Knight and Bruce Robison.

The opening track of the fifteen featured on this excellent release is a real bar room country rocker entitled Texas In 1880, performed by the great pairing of Radney Foster and Pat Green. This track sets the mood for the rest of the album, just look at who is featured, Willie Nelson, Junior Brown and Robert Earl Keen are just a few of the great artists featured on this release.

A personal favourite of mine is Rev. Horton Heat performing Get Rhythm, a lovely helping of rockabilly country; you just cannot help but move to this type of music.
