Taylor Swift [2008 Reissue]
Like no other Nashville-based female singer since Mary Chapin Carpenter, Taylor Swift brings a charming folkie singer-songwriter quality to her self-titled debut album.
Unusually writing or co-writing all 11 songs, including the impressive debut single Tim McGraw, Swift favors crisp acoustic guitars over weepy pedal steels, and the overall vibe of the album evokes vintage Carly Simon rather than Faith Hill.
Less bombastic than her peers, Taylor Swift has a style all of her own, and her songs are sung with genuine enthusiasm and emotion without resorting to the 'big ballad' style favoured by recent Music City divas.
Taylor Swift the album has been enhanced in 2008 by the addition of 3 exellent brand new tracks (I'm Only Me When I'm With You, Invisible, A Perfectly Good Heart) and a pop version of the hit single Teardrops On My Guitar.
As fine a debut album as you are likely to hear in any genre on music.
