Surrender Dorothy
2005 saw the release of Alana Davis' third album, Surrender Dorothy and her first on her own independent label following the release of several albums on Elektra.. Davis' debut single 32 Flavors (1997) had some degree of chart success, but that success wasn't repeated on her subsequent releases, despite the many fans of Alana's bluesy, jazzy style. However, one particular track Carry On, did feature on a major commercial for Sony.
Her Jazz leanings are hardly surprising given the fact that Walter Davis Jr. a pianist that regulalrly played with artists such as Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker is her father.
