Straight From the Heart
The traditional vocal style of Daryle Singletary - a man who George Jones no less said 'he embodies what country music is all about' - has been applied to a straightforward and respectful tribute to some classic country standards on Straight From The Heart, his first album in five years.
Jones is of course featured, on These Days I Barely Get By And sparring partner Merle Haggard's Bottle Let Me Down is also included, but look out for more modern covers such as Randy Travis' Promises and a duet with John Anderson on Anderson's own Black Sheep.
Singletary makes no attempt to change the song structures, or make them his own in any way, he just uses his great voice to make old sound new, and new sound old.
