Steve Forbert found himself hailed by critics him at the time of his album Jackrabbit Slim in 1980 as 'The new Bob Dylan' because of a similar vocal timbre and thoughtful songwriting. The front cover of the album encourages those comparisons with a simple black and white photo of Forbert playing a well-worn Martin acoustic guitar. The record was recorded in Nashville and produced by John Simon who had worked with The Band.
Forbert continues to write and record, and has become something of a cult legend in singer-songwriter circles. A prolific writer, he has released a number of albums throughout the nineties and since 2000.
