Stay All Night: Buddy Holly's Country Roots is a 20-track CD consisting of current (2004 vintage) recordings of country tracks that influenced Holly, backed by an all-star band including the likes of Tommy Allsup, Al Perkins and the Mavericks' Robert Reynolds. Included is a pair of 1953 vintage, previously unissued Buddy Holly tracks, cut with Jack Neal.

Amongst the highlights are Larry and Travis Holley covering Remember Me, and Judy Luis Watson's superb reading of Suitcase Blues. The record ends up being a close cousin to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's Will the Circle Be Unbroken, with an honesty about the work and the music that is compelling in its own right, and the annotation in the accompanying booklet is very thorough. ~ All Music Guide
