Stand In The Fire [Remastered & Extended]
Stand in the Fire shows how Warren Zevon could rock. Recorded live back in 1981 at L.A.'s Roxy Theatre this album has for over 25 years been out of print and unavailable, unless you had a lot of money to hand for a second-hand copy.
Now out on CD for the first time there are four previously unreleased tracks on Stand In The Fire, including the poignant Hasten Down The Wind which is a solo piano performance, as is Frank and Jessie James.
The title track and Werewolves of London show Zevon letting rip and Jeannie Needs A Shooter was co-written with Bruce Springsteen.
Zevon was well known for having conquered his addictions and this was the first tour back for him and he was justifiably proud. The line-change in the song I'll Sleep When I'm Dead to I got a .38 special up on the shelf, and I don't intend to use it on myself, sums up Stand In The Fire and where Zevon was in his life on this tour.
