Solace
Australian singer songwriter Xavier Rudd could also be described as a one man band, playing guitar, didgeridoo and various percussion instruments often at the same time, how’s that for dexterity.
With Solace his 2004 U.S. debut release we have a fine collection of fourteen songs along with video footage of the songs 12th Of September and Yirra Kurl.
Recorded in Vancouver, Xavier Rudd plays all the instrumental parts and apart from a cover of Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry all songs are original compositions. From the opening track Shelter, later released as a single to the final cut Green Spandex, we have a superb collection of songs covering social injustice, environmental and world issues and personal observations of life in the 21st century.
If you are a fan of the likes of Jack Johnson and Ani DeFranco, Solace by Xavier Rudd will be a perfect addition to your collection.
