Brett Dennen - So Much More

Brett Dennen on his latest release So Much More returns to the high, throaty voice and eccentric phrasing that has drawn comparisons to Billie Holiday and again, Dennen's acoustic-guitar-based music is breezy and accessible, with attractive melodies.

So Much More opens with his unadorned acoustic guitar and a series of lyrical scenes of preachers, sidewalk prophets and 'a pigeon with a broken wing.' A few pessimistic portrayals of prisons, politicians and bombs are tied to fluid rhythms and enough sonic parallels to please any generation of listeners.
