Paul Thorn - So Far So Good Live [DVD + CD]

So Far So Good Live: The Best of the Paul Thorn Band, Paul Thorn and bandmates Jeffrey Perkins (drums), Bill Hinds (guitar), Michael Graham a.k.a. Dr. Love (keyboards), and Doug Kahan (bass) pull out all the stops, offering a rootsy blend of soul, rock, blues, and even a little gospel. This is a great way to kick off your Paul Thorn collection. The production qualities on both are top-notch and do a fine job of capturing the feel of a Paul Thorn show.

The DVD presents a whopping seventeen tracks, primarily spanning songs from Thorn's albums Ain't Love Strange and Are You With Me. It also contains a segment from the John Kane documentary Fellow Americans in which Thorn was featured in the infancy of his musical career. His whiskey soaked baritone groans, growls, and howls through a litany of quirky, down-home stories and songs whose veracity you're never really quite sure of. ~ Full review at Infuze Magazine
