Kimmie Rhodes - Small Town Girl

Small Town Girl from Kimmie Rhodes came about when she sat down to write a song and ended up writing a play.  Originally she kept at as a play and it was actually performed at a workshop production in Willie Nelson's Western town of Luck which he had built years before to be used for other movies, the way one does.....

In 2006 Small Town Girl was released as a 'concept' album with Act One and Act Two being the two 'sides' of the 'story'.  Joe Ely actually starred in the play along with Joe Sears who appears on the album too.

Although written this way, Small Town Girl still stands well as a record with no real 'need' to stick to listening to it in sequence, Rhinestone Highway and Angels Unawares are two examples of singer/songwriter style songs.
