Ry Cooder has for well over three decades been in the consciousness of music fans for his renowned slide guitar work that has graced so many albums and music works.

Ry Cooder is the self-titled debut release from 1970 that sees Ry Cooder taking his brand of blues-rock and straight up blues playing to the streets. However, even on this early release there are signs of different directions that Cooder would explore more fully in subsequent releases; Dixieland, funk and the orchestral arrangements of Kirby Johnson.
