Robbie Fulks is probably one of the most 'alt' of alt.country artists. Although a writer of straight country songs, he is probably better known for his humorous spoofs of well-known pop songs, and his frequent dismantling and reinventing of his own music.
Before his solo career, Fulks was a guitar player of note and appeared on a Grammy nominated Bluegrass album in 1989. A scathing critic of the corporate country music establishment, Robbie Fulks is a very difficult character to pigeonhole.
