Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby
Bruce Hornsby is a name synonymous with jazzy pop, but his keyboard work has also made him one of the most in demand session players, having played on more than 100 records with artists as diverse as Bob Dylan, Bob Seger, Bonnie Raitt, Bela Fleck and Willie Nelson. An accomplished songwriter, his songs have been covered by the great and the good of pop and rock and he was a part-time member of the Grateful Dead from September 1990 to March 1992.
Ricky Skaggs was taken under the wing of bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley in 1971 and began to build his reputation with acts such as the influential J.D. Crowe & the New South. Chet Atkins was to later credit Skaggs with 'saving country music' thanks to his dedication to bringing traditional values to his recorded works.
The twosome got together after recording a tribute to Bill Monroe in 2005.
