Rickie Lee Jones
Rickie Lee Jones is a two-time Grammy winner, who burst into the charts in 1979 with the breakthrough single Chuck E.'s in Love. Her jazzy, bohemian style drew many admirers, but over the next decade a number of her albums suffered at the hands of sanitised, glossy production, and her personal addiction problems compounded the poor commercial returns.
Jones began to recover her kudos throughout the nineties with a series of more experimental and artistically satifying projects, unafraid to test different rock, pop jazz and blues styles.
She released an independent album V2 in 2003 which reignited interest in Jones' work, and her 2007 release The Sermon On Exposition Boulevard is alive and vital, possibly finally helping Rickie Lee Jones to realise her true potential.
