Real Day
The world of the songwriter is often typified by by serious troubadours who produce complex and brooding lyrical content, often in place of real craftsmanship. Alice Peacock is the perfect antidote for anyone suffering from heavy songwriting blues: Peacock's debut album Real Day bursts out with melodic and open-hearted songs leaving listeners feeling like they've met not only a real artist, but a real person.
Peacock worries sometimes that her songs are too simple, but then I Wanna Hold Your Hand did okay for the Beatles, so the thinking is that there is nothing wrong in choosing the direct and approachable road. Real Day has country rockers, ballads, and a roots-rock sensibility bringing to mind the Jayhawks.
