Mike Anderson - Real Country

When I first heard this superb debut from Mike Anderson I absolutely loved it. Real Country describes Mike and his music perfectly. For a relatively unknown artist who has recorded his first album, shall we say later in life than most, the eleven tracks on offer here are excellent.

First and foremost a songwriter, Mike Anderson has only chosen four of his own compositions for his first release, but his choice of covers perfectly suit his wonderful vocal delivery. First track is Heartaches By The Number, a classic song by Harlan Howard that swings along in a good old trad country style.

First of Mikes original songs is My Heartache Hall Of Fame, a soulful lament written by Mike over twenty years ago, he should have never left this song unrecorded for so long, its superb. Those Unemployment Blues is my favourite cut, telling the story of a mechanic between jobs, that'll be Mike Anderson then. Great harmonica and piano on this track, in fact, to sum up, a great album by a great artist. ~ James Soars
