Phil Vassar
Phil Vassar made his name as a chart-topping songwriter before landing his own record deal. Vassar's demo tape found its way to Engelbert Humperdinck who wound up recording Once in a While in 1996.
Then being responsible for writing a string of hits for Collin Raye, Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw and Jo Dee Messina, Vassar's own performing career saw him release his debut album in 2000, and a number of hit singles were taken from it.
Phil Vassar the album was certified gold, and its follow-up, American Child, was released in 2002. It was to be six years before his follow-up Prayer of a Common Man appeared.
