Pat Green made his first independent recordings in 1995 with Lloyd Maines on production duties, but Green didn't make any significant impact until opening for Willie Nelson in 1998 after his brand of all-out Texas rock caught the attention of Willie himself.
Pat Green managed to continue as an independent musician right up until his first major label release in 2001. He has since managed to temper his rock approach to integrate more contemporary country into his act.
