Ongiara
Great Lake Swimmers have developed their own particular brand of Ambient Folk, using natural reverb to add to the dreamy country-roots sound that is inspired largely by the natural world around them.
Ongiara is the Great Lake Swimmers' 2007 release, and the creative heart of the band, singer-songwriter Tony Dekker, is joined on the album by Blue Rodeo's Bob Egan, Sarah Harmer and Owen Pallett of Arcade Fire amongst other guest musicians, augmenting the core players.
The Toronto Harbour boat that ferried the band to the recording sessions on Toronto Island gave its name to the album, but in fact Ongiara was recorded mostly at the Aeolian Hall, in the heart of London, Ontario.
