As a follow up to his self titled debut release, Jace Everett really has gone the full nine yards with Old New Borrowed Blues. Different from his debut in the fact that this is an acoustic release, missing the big Nashville production, instead going back to basics, two guitars, doghouse bass and that trademark deep soulful vocal from Jace Everett.
The album opens with Your Man, written by Jace, the song was to become a Number 1 in the USA when recorded by Josh Turner, showing that as a song writer Jace Everett is certainly no slouch.
Acoustic versions of the steamy Bad Things and I Gotta Have It, both taken from his previous release are given new meaning here, recorded in friend and guitarist Chris Raspante's house, complete with bare wooded floor to give excellent acoustics - and all done in one take, no overdubs here, completing that caught live feel.
Old New Borrowed Blues by Jace Everett shows a singer and songwriter totally at ease, both playing guitar and when delivering a song. This album acts as a perfect partner to his self titled debut and show a songwriter and performer going from strength to strength. ~ James Soars
