Mojo Priest
Yup, it's that Steven Seagal - the alleged tough guy actor of many straight-to-video movies (and a few hits). Considering his sluggish box office performances of late it's no wonder he's got the Blues.
Okay now that was too easy but Seagal fancies himself as a Blues singer as well. Surprisingly his voice isn't as bad as you might think- a weaker Eric Clapton sound perhaps, but this record's not enough to fend off the cynics. Although he doesn't embarrasses himself it's still the typical macho Blues/Rock posturing found on a dozens of records released this past 2 months alone.
The musicianship is tight (Bernard Allison even guests), Seagal is capable on the axe and the sound is high budget that will impress and surprise many curious listeners. Seagal would've had to make a masterpiece to silence his detractor's but hey, he asked for it. That said Mojo Priest is honestly as good as half the Blues/Rock/whiteboyblues CDs on the market right now (but that ain't saying much). ~ Full Review at Blues Critic
