Joe Solo - Me & Billy The Kid

This is Me & Billy The Kid, my fifth album in four years. It was recorded through a single microphone in my shed during the winter of 2007/2008. It's cold out there. You need a whole lot of patience and a good overcoat.

I wanted to write about everything I loved. From the novels of Steinbeck, Hemingway, Orwell, Kesey and Kerouac; to the poetry of Owen and Sassoon, and the survivors accounts of the Western Front compiled by Lyn Macdonald.

I wanted to funnel it through the music that really hits me - The Clash, Gram Parsons, Tom Waits, Bob Dylan and Gillian Welch- and to tell its stories not through my own eyes, but through those of doomed soldiers, hobo visionaries and jaded pub singers.

I wanted to write about everything I loved, and I loved writing it.
