Mavis Staples is a soul and gospel legend, and is the owner of one of the greatest voices in contemporary music.

Originally sharing lead vocals with other family members in the groundbreaking Staple Singers from the late fifties onwards, Mavis has gone on to produce many inspirational solo recordings.

Mavis and the Staple Singers were also at the forefront of the Civil Rights Movement of the sixties, with Mavis personally suffering at first hand the effects of heavyhanded policing.
