The Flatlanders - Live from Austin TX is part of the Live From Austin, Texas DVD series which released full versions of concerts that were shown in a truncated form on the television series Austin City Limits. This release contains a June 21, 2002, show by the the Flatlanders.

The Flatlanders were named after the huge empty sky above the west Texas plains. Joe Ely Butch Hancock and lead singer Jimmie Dale Gilmore met and all had a common love of folk music, country and country blues - but they shared a common love for the music of the Beatles.
