Live At The Alabama Women's Prison
Mack Vickery is the rockabilly singer who recorded for Sun and Gone Records, and went on to write songs for Jerry Lee Lewis, George Strait, Tanya Tucker, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Paycheck, and many more.
Live At The Alabama Women's Prison was Vickery's first LP in 1970, and saw him pack up his road show and take it into a woman's prison in Alabama akin to the higher profile forays of Johnny Cash. The album met with plenty of resistance, and the record company soon went bankrupt.
This Bear Family release is the audio equivalent of a 'B' movie, with the same so-bad-its-good appeal, right down to the tasteless cover shot!
