Live A Little
The Pernice Brothers have developed a reputation for perky, pop records with a country influence, and their sixth album Live A Little again follows this trend.
Taking a listen to the opener Automaton, the scene is set for memorable country pop, but by the end of the track the guitar climax hints at other directions to come further in the album. UK influences abound on Live A Little; Joe Pernice has a voice reminiscent of Morrissey, and at times Elvis Costello, but the US rock influences of Wilco and REM are never far from the surface.
If classic pop sensibility is something you crave, but like the rough edges smoothed by a dash of country-rock then The Pernice Brothers will be just up your street.
