Lee Ann Womack
In 1997, Lee Ann Womack released her self-titled debut album, which brought to the public eye with a more traditional country sound than her peers of that time.
With endorsements from Alan Jackson, George Strait and other standard bearers of 'real' country, Womack hit the No. 2 spot four times with single. However, her second album made less of an impression on the charts.
It was in 2000, when Lee Ann released her third album, I Hope You Dance, that she reached the pop-crossover audience, with the title track spending five weeks at No. 1.
In 2005, Womack released her first studio album since 2003, There's More Where That Came From, an album that was clearly much more in the traditional mould of her earlier albums. The lead single, I May Hate Myself in the Morning was a top 10 Country hit, Womack's first since 2001.
