Willie Nelson, has teamed up with old friends Merle Haggard and Ray Price (both of whom have recorded duet albums with Nelson) for Last of the Breed.
Produced by veteran Fred Foster and including the likes of steel guitarist Buddy Emmons, Texas Playboy fiddler Johnny Gimble and vocal backing from the Jordanaires this album is truly from the old boy network.
Last of the Breed features standards from the pens of Harlan Howard, Leon Payne, and Lefty Frizzell and include songs such as Mickey Newbury's Sweet Memories and Howard's Pick Me Up on Your Way Down. A few other close friends get invited to join in the fun, so Vince Gill makes an appearance on Heartaches by the Number and Kris Kristofferson sits in on Why Me Lord.
