Kerosene
Miranda Lambert came to Nashville's attention through the tried and trusted route of the Nashville Star TV show. But on her debut album Kerosene Miranda Lambert demonstrates that there is much more to her tender 21 years than being just another pretty face.
Co-writing 11 of the 12 cuts on Kerosene, Miranda's dynamic vocal style puts her more lauded peers to shame with an album that is country-pop, but with far more depth and power than most of the other bright young things.
There are country influences, and of course the omnipresent rock guitars, but this is more punk rock than eighties stadium rock, which has to be a good thing. There is romance in her lyrics, and her versatile range brings out the tenderness of the songs where appropriate, but she can also bite back as lover scorned. Top quality contemporary country and highly recommended.
