Kelly Willis

After her graduation Kelly Willis attracted the notice of Nanci Griffith and Lyle Lovett. Griffith introduced MCA producer Tony Brown to Kelly and he signed her to MCA in 1989.

Despite having one of the finest pure country voices around, and enjoying glowing critics' reviews, Willis' MCA albums met with little commercial success and she was released from her contract in 1994.

Her 1999 release What I Deserve was released on an independent label and saw Kelly finally make her long overdue mark on the charts. She has since released further albums, and has featured heavily on albums by her husband and songwriter supreme, Bruce Robison.
