Many regard Keith Whitley as the greatest country singer of his generation. His stint with seminal bluegrass outfit J.D. Crowe ended in 1981 as he set off on a solo career which was to lead to country superstardom. Eight years later, Whitley was dead from an alcohol overdose.
Keith Whitley's deep and sincere vocals have only been matched by those of George Jones and George Strait.
