Katrina Elam
As a high school kid with a songwriting contract and ringing endorsements from other Oklahoma veterans Reba McEntire and Vince Gill, Katrina Elam had a lot to live up to when her debut album was released.
As it turned out, Katrina's self-titled debut album overshadowed the already high expectations - her passionate yet sensitive vocals the perfect vehicle for Elam's surprisingly mature lyrics.
There's an edge to Katrina's work that belies her age, she can rock out and at the same time explore issues such as isolation from the standpoint of a high school outcast. John Rich co-wrote Unbreakable, a rocking high point in the centre of an excellent debut.
