Joe Solo

Joe Solo began his musical life playing punk covers in a school band. Performing his first original song live in 1987, he went on to busking eventually hitch-hiking his way round England, France, Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Holland and Belgium. "It was the closest a smalltown boy could get to hopping trains like the old bluesmen".

Eventually settling in Hull at the start of 1991, Solo formed pop-punk four-piece Lithium Joe, who toured and recorded independently for the next ten years. 'When the band split it was a big setback for me, but I loved writing songs and I just wasn't ready to give up'.

Releasing the first Joe Solo album in 2004, Joe is enjoying the freedom of working alone again. "I play what I want, where I want, when I want. Simple. What's not to love about that?"
