Jim Lauderdale
Jim Lauderdale is an international recording artist, and one of Nashville's Elite songwriters with hits for Patty Loveless, Vince Gill and the Dixie Chicks under his belt. His is a voice heard on countless Americana, country, roots and bluegrass CDs, but he is still a relative unknown to the majority of the record buying public. Despite mainstream radio having a hard time labeling the multi-talented Lauderdale, his fan base continues to grow as fans are steadily discovering his eclectic style that can range from traditional country to rockin' country to bluegrass and all points in between! His first love is undoubtedly Bluegrass, and his collaboration with Ralph Stanley, Lost In The Lonesome Pines, earned him a Grammy, however Jim Lauderdale is more widely known for his country-pop crossover music. An ever present backing vocalist for many artists including Carlene Carter, Dwight Yoakam and Lucinda Williams, Lauderdale's talents stretch beyond the limits of regular singer-songwriters, and he has portrayed George Jones on stage in Stand By Your Man: The Tammy Wynette Story. One of the most well known Lauderdale songs is The King of Broken Hearts written as a tribute to the late Gram Parsons and the legendary George Jones and perfromed by George Strait. A popular and effervescent personality, Jim Lauderdale is now the regular compare of the Americana Music Association annual awards ceremony, and and it seems fitting to turn around his famous catch-phrase from the awards shows, and say 'Jim Lauderdale: Now THAT'S Americana!!'
